Wayne Palmer joined the “Romsey Raptors” this year, as one of three judges in the annual Enterprise Project organised by The Romsey School.

Along with fellow judges Craig Buckingham, Director of Buckingham’s Estate Agency and Chris Riley, Director of Michael Rhodes Estate Agency, all gave up three days of their time and made a substantial financial pledge to support this year’s project.

The event got off to a terrific start with the arrival of a personal letter of support from the Prime Minister, David Cameron.

The Project involved all year 10 pupils who were tasked with developing their own business plans.  The two winning teams then went head to head to make their business idea the most successful, having been given a start-up grant of £200, with the aim being to walk away with any profits raised as the prize.

The school aimed for a public launch, and local MP and former pupil, Caroline Nokes, opened a “pop up shop” where the two winning teams showcased their ideas.

Both teams did exceptionally well in growing their profit margins, but it was “Ready Grow” who won, making a staggering £977 profit.

Mrs Julia Felton, who has been involved in the Project for several years said, “This year was by far the best that we have ever experienced. Staff who have been helping to supervise the activity at the shop have been approached by many members of the public and local business people paying us complements  on the behaviour and manner of the young people involved, They have most certainly been a credit to the school and should feel very proud of themselves for what they have achieved . We would also like to publically thank the local businesses in Romsey who so kindly supported us and the pupils in making Enterprise ‘real’ this year”.
