Modern traffic management suites are designed around the same ergonomic requirements and British Standards as CCTV control rooms. A large monitoring wall, used by operators for mapping and overseeing traffic levels, usually forms the basis for the layout.

Large LCD screens and rear projection units are common in new traffic suites as their ability to display multiple images as well as PC inputs provides the operator with interactive flexibility.
