Custom Designed Security Control Room Furniture for Renfrewshire Council
Thinking Space Systems has recently completed control room furniture for Renfrewshire council. The new integrated control room was completed recently as part of a larger project to create the new Renfrewshire Community Safety Partnership Hub in Paisley.
Boston Networks were awarded the contract to upgrade the existing Public Space CCTV cameras across the region including a new communications network, which was completed last year. The second phase of the project created the 24/7 centralised monitoring facility, and Thinking Space were tasked by Boston Networks with designing furniture to suit the clients’ 24/7 use.
The control room furniture provided consists of a large console designed for a maximum of four operators, with optimum viewing angles for each person to monitor the large multi-screen Evolution media wall, also provided by Thinking Space. Of particular note was the requirement by the client to design one of the operator positions with height adjustability. Specialists in custom furniture solutions, Thinking Space provided the working area for one operator with automated height adjustment, so that their desk area can be raised and lowered at the touch of a button, to suit DDA requirements.
Councillor Tommy Williams, convener of Renfrewshire Councils’ Housing and Community Safety Policy Board, explained “the new control room will allow us to provide an even better service to deter crime and antisocial behaviour and improve the way we analyse incidents” (www.paisley.org.uk).
