Running for Jane
After months of speculation and anticipation, our favourite event of the year finally arrived on Sunday, as we were “running for Jane”. Welcoming an early morning sun, our team, TenNovus4Jane, headed to Broadlands in Romsey, for this years’ Romsey Relay Marathon. However, up and about before any of us had even introduced a toe out from under the duvet, Neil had hotfooted it to the venue, ably assisted by Alastair, to bag a good spot on the course. Armed with gazebo, flags and the most important ingredient for the day…chocolate cakes, they set up camp for the day.
With a highly able team, all were keen to run off the recent cake consumed during the TSS Bake off competition, held in April. Whilst raising £164 for Jane Scarth House from the event, we were all still feeling a little bloated from the tempting treats, but wanted to give it our all to raise even more for this local charity.
Due to the generous donations received on our Justgiving page, by the time Sunday arrived, we had reached our target of £500. But the donations just keep coming!
So, not only motivated by this achievement, some of us had other motivations too. Some were down to sheer hard work training for the event and some were hoping to better their time from last year. For others, it was a bit of rivalry amongst friends asto who could bag the fastest time. But for most of us, we revelled in the atmosphere, proud to be part of such a popular event, which has grown year on year, seeing over 90 teams compete this year!
So a big thank you goes to all our team who participated on the day; Tina, Suzanne, Sarah, Alex, Emma, Antonio, Patrick, Paul, Callum and Matt. And we couldn’t be without our supporters who turned up to cheer us on too, thank you team!
The event has seen us raise £650 so far, if you’d like to donate please visit our justgiving page.
With a whole host of fundraising initiatives planned for the year, check back on our blog regularly for the next event, which promises not involve cake this time.
Speaking of which, if you missed the TSS Bake-off competition, why not catch up with the grand final.
