Our Summer Family Festivities
Last Sunday saw around 30 of us head to out to Royal Victoria Country Park at Netley for our summer family festivities. This year, we kept fingers crossed for some fine weather as we prepared for our barbecue, and thank goodness the rain held off. With Tina as event organiser, her fridge beforehand must have been bursting at the seams, as she arrived laiden with tasty morcels to share. With Wayne at the helm as barbecue operator, the sizzling of sausages and burgers soon ensued to feed hungry teams of sportsmen, women and children.
Why sporty? Well, a series of games were scheduled, which included Kubb (Viking chess), rounders, football, tennis and not forgetting Wayne and Tina’s water cricket, which kept even the younger members interested!
So, with all that activity taking place, we tucked into the barbecue food, accompanied by Paul Atkins’ banging tunes playing out to get us in the party mood. Completing the meal, we were treated to some home baking, with Neil and Jo’s delicious cakes to choose from.
We rounded off the afternoon watching 5 cruiseliners leaving port as the park had a birds eye view of Southampton Water; it was a good chance to reflect too on the great day out.
