With Fresher’s week well and truly over and the new University year in full swing, Thinking Space Systems look back at their University Achievements by improving security control rooms this year.
University of South Wales
Working with security staff at the University of South Wales, Thinking Space created a brand new control room, located in a building previously used as a visitor centre. A two person control room console was installed as well as an Evolution Media Wall for monitoring the many campus locations. A custom designed reception desk for the new reception area adjoining the security control room was created to ensure privacy and security needs, whilst creating a welcoming environment.
University of Kent
At the University of Kent, Thinking Space also installed a two person console and Evolution Media wall for their remodelled existing security control room. One of the operator positions was required to have electric height adjustment as compliance with DDA regulations for wheelchair users was required. The installation was completed in May 2017.

What our University Clients think
Colin Monks, Head of Security at the University of Leicester commented “The design was key, Thinking Space improved on our ideas adding value to the design and construction of the control room space, fully meeting our requirements, within budget and delivered against very tight time scales. The project was well managed throughout and the ongoing support post build has been extremely good”.
Operators and security staff all benefit from an improved working environment not only due to improved ergonomics in their workspace, but also from a sense of motivation and boost of morale. The University of East Anglia clearly noticed this, as Christine Beverage, Head of Campus Support explained. “Thinking Space were professional throughout the entire project process. So easy to work with, they took all the problems away and delivered a completed project on time and on budget. The staff love working in the new environment and have a renewed focus because of it”.
