Thinking Space Systems Present Final Donations to Jane Scarth House
Thinking Space Systems have been fundraising throughout 2017 for local charity Romsey Cancer Support Centre, Jane Scarth House. To round off the year, three members of the company’s fundraising team visited the charity to present the final donations to Centre Manager, Anne Campbell.
Suzanne Pinchin, Neil Walker and Connor Kester represented their Thinking Space 30+ colleagues in what has been a “fun” fundraising year, and have raised a total of £956.45 for the year. The proceeds have been used to help the charity move into their new walk-in centre, which offers a calm, welcoming space for clients affected by cancer seeking emotional and practical support.
Anne Campbell, Centre Manager, commented “the donations we have received from local businesses, including Thinking Space have made a major impact on our charity. The majority of the renovation work involved in creating the new centre, as well as all the fixtures and fittings, have been either donated or provided from fundraising efforts. As an independent charity, we rely on this support to continue to provide our essential services. The growth of the charity has also meant that we have taken on additional befrienders, who are currently being trained, and are able to offer more counselling and therapy hours”.
Thinking Space undertook a full calendar year of fundraising events to achieve the donations, including “Guess the Baby” and “TSS Bake-off” competitions, a “Christmas Jumper Day” and participation in the Romsey Relay Marathon.
As well as fundraising, in August, Thinking Space designed, manufactured and donated two desks for the centre. Anne commented “We are so pleased with the desks that Thinking Space provided for the centre, they are perfect for the work we do, with their calm, cool colours, and they really add to the ambience we have created within the centre”.
Thinking Space Managing Director Wayne Palmer added “we are so pleased to have contributed to such a great charity. We are always keen to support a local charity each year, but with this year’s charity it has been a delight to watch the new centre taking shape and learning of the positive impact it has had to the Jane Scarth staff and clients”.
