Refurbishment of Security Control Room, Aston University

Thinking Space Systems have recently provided new control room furniture for Aston University, following refurbishment of the security control room.

After meeting back in 2013, Aston University were impressed with the technical furniture solutions offered by Thinking Space.  Having now chalked up over 15 university security control rooms around the country over the last 10 years, Thinking Space are experienced in the education sector. Their custom designed solutions mean that free-standing desks could be provided which could be easily relocated in the future.

A typical CCTV control room layout was provided, with a two operator console, media wall and supervisor console as well as custom designed storage.

Explained Acting Head of Security, Caroline Bluck, “Aston University recently were lucky enough to work with Thinking Space in refurbishment works of a new Security Control room. Not an easy task when accommodating a room with so much technology, and to satisfy multiple end users”

“This was a complete redesign, with the focus on creating not only a user-friendly space, but a calm atmosphere essential when controlling emergency incidents. It is not always easy to achieve both function and design, but it has been achieved here. I’m confident we now have the base in which to serve our community, and a space our workforce can take pride in”.
