End of Year Charity Update for 2019
As we said farewell to the final few days of the year, we took time to focus on an end of year charity update for 2019.
Thinking Space have been supporting a local charity with fundraising and support over the past four years. Previous charities have included Romsey Young Carers and Jane Scarth House.
But for the past two years now, we have been supporting Southampton-based charity Rose Road Association.
To date, we have raised over £2500 for the charity, which provides vital services for over 400 children and young people with severe physical disabilities and learning difficulties across Hampshire.
So it was a real treat when we were invited to Rose Road to see how our fundraising has helped the charity over the last two years.
Culture Team members Adam and Suzanne met with Beth Rogers from the charity and were presented with a table of goodies all set up for them! We had the chance to play with a variety of interactive toys which the children can use by gently pressing a button. Our favourite was a musical curtain, which played music and lights when you moved your hand under it.
Our fundraising has allowed the charity to purchase two iPads with communications software which is installed on them. This allows the children to communicate by choosing words and phrases to make a sentence using the iPads.
It was a real privilege to see these and the other improvements that the charity have been able to make and the centre is fast becoming a real home from home for all the children and young people it accommodates.
Our Culture Team, headed up by Suzanne and consisting of Adam, Mike and Tony have all done a fantastic job this year in raising funds for Rose Road, as well as other initiatives in the company to drive employee engagement. Thanks to them, we’ve really stepped up our game, which all culminated in the entertainment for the company Christmas Party. Tony led us in some party games, followed by Mike and his superb quiz, rounded off by Adam and a celebratory awards ceremony.
As a token of appreciation, Adam, Mike and Tony were awarded our Employee of the Month accolade for December.
Our thanks also go to all those who have donated in our fundraising events this year, it really has made a difference!
